Meet Our Midwives

Karen Carola, CNM, Director of Midwifery

Karen has more than 30 years of experience in women’s health care, including nine years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. She has a B.S. in nursing from William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ and a M.S. in nursing with a specialty in nurse-midwifery from Columbia University in New York. Karen believes that birth should be an empowering experience and is very active in teaching prenatal yoga.

Katie Connelly, CNM

Katie has more than 20 years of experience in women’s health. She started her career as a certified childbirth educator and labor and delivery nurse. Katie earned a B.S. in nursing from The College of New Jersey, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society. She earned a M.S. in midwifery from New York University. Katie strives to empower women by involving them in their health care decisions.

Esther Diamond, CNM

Esther Hadassah, fondly known as Dassa, has over 10 years of experience in women’s health. Dassa earned her B.A. in education from Miamondies College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She got her RN degree with honors from OCC where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. She earned a M.S. in midwifery from Philadelphia University. Dassa aims to facilitiate women to have a positive birthing experience which they can carry with them for a lifetime.

Mindy Moyer, DNP, FNP-BC, CNM

Mindy earned her Masters in Family Practice from the UMDNJ and became a certified sexual assault nurse examiner in 2013. She specialized in emergency medicine and critical care until completing her Doctorate of Nursing practice and post masters certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Rutgers University. Mindy has been serving in the New Jersey National Guard since 2002 and has been awarded the Army Nurse Corp Association Nursing Research Award and Nursing Practice Award. She was also awarded the Stanley S. Bergen Medal of Excellence from Rutgers University School of Nursing.

Jill Noll, CNM

Jill earned an MS in Nursing with specialty in Midwifery from Case Western Reserve University. She has many years of experience helping families navigate pregnancy and birth and has practiced in 6 different states. She is originally from Pennsylvania and is happy to be living back on the East Coast closer to family for the first time in over 20 years. Jill’s philosophy of care involves empowering women and families to take an active role in their care through education and a shared decision-making model.

Kaitlyn Schwenger, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC

Kaitlyn earned her B.S. in nursing from Drexel University and started her career as a labor and delivery nurse. She obtained her M.S in nursing from Georgetown University, becoming dual certified as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated GU with Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society. Outside of work, Kaitlyn can be found spending time with her husband and 6 children, working out at the gym, and enjoying time with her friends.

Lori Sherman, CNM, MPH, APN

Lori earned both a B.S. and an M.S. in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Specializing in nurse-midwifery and women’s health, Lori is dualcertified as a certified nurse-midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the Association for Reproductive Health Professionals. Prior to a career as a CNM, Lori earned a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University.
